STATISTICS OF THE AREA

            Although the original jurisdiction covered an area of 240,000sq.km, subsequent developments have reduced it to 14, 403sq.km with the bulk of the Archdiocese in northern and central geo-political zones of Plateau state of Nigeria. The southern geo-political zone and parts of central geo-political zone was ceded to Shendam Diocese. The parts that hitherto belonged to Bauchi, Kaduna and Nassarawa States are now Bauchi, Kafanchan and Lafia Dioceses respectively. The Catholic population of the Archdiocese now stands at 1,650,000 members divided into 6 deaneries. Two Vicars-General supervise Administration and Religious; Institutions and societies; with a dean in charge of each deanery. There are 41 parishes and 6 chaplaincies. Statistics show the area covered by 80 Diocesan and Religious/Misssionary Priest and 60 Religious Sisters in communities.  There are 60 major seminarians and 271 Minor Seminarians, over 90 full time and 378 part-time (volunteers) Catechists and Catechism Teachers.
