 Most Rev. Philip Davou Dung, New Catholic Bishop of Shendam
Following the pronouncement and appointment of Msgr Philip Davou DUNG as the Bishop- elect of Shendam Diocese by His Holiness Pope Francis, on Saturday November 5, 2016, The Diocese was thrilled with joy as thousands of Christ's faithful gathered in the Shendam for the Ordination and Installation of the new Bishop. The 11th of january, 2017 will ever remain memorable in the lives of many. when the Centenary ground of the Sacred Heart Cthedral Shendam attracted more than 400 priests and 32 Bishop, among whom was His Eminence John Cardinal onaiyekan. Well wishers from all walks of life, cutting across Ethnic, religoius and denominational divide gave the occasion a befitting  and desired outlook. The Plateau State governor, Barr. Simon Lalong, former governors and top goverment functionaries also graced the occasion. The Principal Consecrator was Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, the Archbishop of Jos and President of CBCN. Rev Fr. Raymond Gofut who has been the Diocsan Administrator for almost 2 years following the demise of the Late Bishop James Daman,  thanked the almighty God and the Church for the oppotunitygranted him to serve as a "care taker", while promising the diocesan clergy and laity support to their new Chief Shephard in the spirit of collaboration and continuity. The homilist Most Rev. Matthew Ndangoso, Archsbishop of Kaduna called on the new Bishop to be deligent and loyal to the church, in the exercised of his duty, while reminding him of the challenges associated with the office.
